It can be tricky to try to teach your kids Heathenry. I know my way around the myths, but I'm reasonably good at retelling them for adults, I'm not always the best at doing the same for my children. Also, I have to compete with Netflix, YouTube and Minecraft for their attention. So, I try to find small ways to reach them, childish things to peak their interest. Childish is fun!

In this third installment of my How-too series on handspinning, I will attempt to describe how to pre-draft and draft various types of prepared fiber. Drafting, in handspinning, is how you prepare your fiber for your drop spindle. Pre-drafting is when you need to thin out your fiber ahead of time before drafting. We all know about The Lore. You know, The Lore, capitalized. Generally referring to the Eddas and related documents, more broadly to information regarding the people of the Northern European cultures and time periods that we include in Heathenry that was recorded or produced in the pre-Christian era. It sometimes is broadened to include conclusions drawn from archeological finds and folklore and practices from that time that have survived into the modern day. There is nothing we like arguing about more, is there?
